孟凡：哥本哈根皮草的零售商、设计师和生产商等项目看似和主营业务的关联并不突出，但是您坚持通过这些项目来推动中国皮草产业的发展。您做出这些立足长远的决策的原因是什么？

托本：中国的皮草行业过去竞争十分激烈，未来仍将延续这一格局。从这一点来说，中国已经成为全球皮草行业的世界工厂，因为中国生产的皮草服饰在全世界范围内占据了相当大的比例。中国皮草贸易的发展十分迅速，导致产品的做工和设计无法跟上这一步伐。我们担心，欧洲和北美的消费者会不再青睐皮草服饰。如果皮草服饰退出欧洲和北美的时尚舞台，长此以往也会在中国的时尚产业中销声匿迹。因此对于哥本哈根皮草而言，在产品质量和设计方面为中国的皮草产业提供帮助以满足欧洲消费者的需求变得十分重要，为此我们启动了各个不同的项目，旨在提升整个中国皮草产业的水平。

The Chinese fur industry was - and continues to be - incredibly competitive, which among other things has meant that China has become the workshop of the global fur industry in the sense that the vast majority of fur coats sold in the world are produced in China. The Chinese fur trade grew so quickly that quality and design could not keep pace and we feared that the European and North American consumers would lose interest in fur. If fur slipped out of fashion in Europe and North America, in the longer term fur would also slip out of fashion in China. Therefore, it was important for Kopenhagen Fur to help the Chinese fur industry meet European customer demands for quality and design and we started various programmes with a view to upgrading the entire Chinese fur industry.
